Amazon Title Checker — 75-Character Limit, Symbols & Repetition

Amazon cut non-media product titles from 200 to 75 characters on 27 July 2026 — and titles that exceed the limit are rewritten by Amazon’s AI, which means you stop controlling your own listing. Paste a title and this checker counts characters the way Amazon counts them, then flags the patterns in Amazon’s title requirements: repeated words, ALL-CAPS emphasis, promotional phrases and prohibited symbols.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

What this checker inspects

  • 75-character limit (counts code points, so emoji and accents are counted correctly)
  • UTF-8 byte count, for sellers reusing the text in byte-limited fields
  • Words repeated more than twice (Amazon prohibits repetitive words)
  • Promotional and subjective phrases: "free shipping", "best-seller", "#1", "sale", "guarantee" and similar
  • Prohibited characters and emoji: ! $ ? _ { } ^ and decorative symbols
  • ALL-CAPS words used for emphasis (recognised acronyms like USB and BPA are exempted)
  • Double spaces and headroom warnings near the limit

What it cannot do

  • Your category’s tighter per-category title cap — Seller Central shows it per category, and it is not exposed by any public API
  • Whether the attributes you claim (materials, capacity, certifications) are true — no checker can verify facts
  • Whether Amazon’s AI will accept the wording — acceptance is Amazon’s decision alone

Examples: flagged copy and safer rewrites

BEST Water Bottle!! Premium Quality BPA-Free Bottle for Sports Gym Travel & Outdoor Bottle

Why it is risky: Over 75 characters, "Bottle" appears three times, "BEST" is an ALL-CAPS promo word, double "!!" is prohibited.

Safer direction: Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle 750ml, BPA-Free, Leakproof Lid for Gym and Travel

#1 Rated Water Bottle — Free Shipping — Best Seller 2026

Why it is risky: Three prohibited promo claims in one title: a #1 ranking, a shipping promise and a best-seller claim, plus dashes used for emphasis.

Safer direction: Vacuum Insulated Water Bottle 24oz, Stainless Steel, Leakproof Flip Lid, Cold 24 Hours

Organic Herbal Tea ✨ 30 Detox Bags

Why it is risky: Emoji is prohibited; "Detox" reads as a therapeutic claim; "Organic" needs a current certificate behind it.

Safer direction: Herbal Tea Bags, 30 Count, Chamomile & Peppermint Blend, Caffeine-Free

Frequently asked questions

What is the Amazon title character limit in 2026?
75 characters including spaces for non-media categories, effective 27 July 2026, down from 200. Books, music and video are excluded. Some categories enforce an even tighter cap shown per category in Seller Central.
What happens if my title is longer than 75 characters?
Amazon’s AI rewrites titles that exceed the limit. The rewrite is outside your control and can drop attributes you rely on, so it is safer to shorten the title yourself before it is indexed.
Can I use ALL CAPS or "!!!" in my Amazon title?
No. Title policy prohibits all-caps emphasis and the symbols ! $ ? _ { } ^ , emoji and decorative characters. Recognised acronyms (USB, LED, BPA, FDA) are normal and this checker leaves them alone.
Does the checker send my title anywhere?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser using the same rule set documented on this page. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.

Limitations

  • The checker cannot see your category’s specific cap if it is below 75 — check Seller Central for your category.
  • Character count follows the policy text, but Amazon has not published its exact internal counting method.
  • Passing every check here is not approval — Amazon enforces its policies with its own systems and can suppress any listing.
